Foppapedretti is back to Salone del Mobile fair in Milan with a new eco-friendly outdoor collection, a household line dedicated to remote working and new designs for early childhood
A high-profile return to the international and prestigious Salone del Mobile fair in Milan for Foppapedretti, which during this sixtieth edition presents new products in all three sectors that have distinguished the Bergamo-based company for over 75 years.

Company philosophy

A great comeback to the outdoor furniture sector, then a collection dedicated to remote working to expand the household line and the new interpretation of some iconic products for hanging and ironing, together with some design articles inspired by Montessori method for the collection dedicated to early childhood. All-round new products that share an essential design concept: eco-sustainability. All the new items presented at Salone fair are in fact made with FSC certified wood, coming from protected and certified forests. A philosophy of environmental respect that has applied to all Foppapedretti wooden products for several years, but which also extends to the processing phases, which are 100% made in Italy using water-based paints, safe for the environment, for the final customer and also for workers, as well as the use of renewable energy sources and an innovative method to recycle the wood waste.

The founder

The booth at the Milan event also includes a section dedicated to the history and origins of the company founded in 1945 by Ezio Foppa Pedretti, who started producing wooden toys with the aim of making children dream again in the Postwar period. The exhibition, in fact, displays some iconic pieces that have been the protagonists of exhibitions all around Italy over the years: toys created from the great passion of the founder for wood, that gave way to the “Tree of Ideas” which then extended its branches to childcare products, outdoor furniture and iconic household items.
The Collection
Outdoor collection
The new outdoor collection, called Il giardino dei vizi continui, marks the return of Foppapedretti in this sector: an innovative and very high quality project to be distributed through specialized furniture stores. A renewal of the long company tradition in the production of outdoor furniture, that started in the 50s with folding picnic tables, then evolving from the 80s with the iconic collections of white lacquered garden furniture and later on with those made of refined iroko wood.

Tavolo Diamante
This collection combines the refined ash wood, FSC-certified and with water-based paint, with innovative materials such as acrylic stone and aluminum. The solid and long-lasting frame of the outdoor furniture, as per corporate tradition, features a modern design with rounded shapes to suit any environment, be it a garden, a porch or a nice balcony. Design and innovation without sacrificing functionality, which is always one of the main features of all Foppapedretti items: the products that make up the collection are in fact designed to be stored in a small place. Moreover, the seats can be completed with comfortable removable and washable cushions.

You can choose between two types of seats to match the tables, both light and sturdy and equipped with comfortable removable cushions fixed to the seat: the ash wood chair Gemma or the armchair Ambra with armrests. The table set is completed by the Turchese trolley, with two solid and wide shelves, a food rack in chromed metal and 4 rubber wheels for easy movement.
There are also two other types of seats: the two-seater sofa Ametista, with a comfortable removable cushion fixed to the seat, and the three-seater sofa Onice, with the rear part of the backrest providing storage space for the cushions. Two coffee tables are available: Corallo which is rectangular and has a lower shelf in acrylic stone and the larger square table Opale. Lastly, the Topazio sun bed with polished aluminum frame and adjustable backrest, with a comfortable removable cushion fixed to the seat and backrest. The two rubber wheels facilitate movement, while the support tray under the seat can be pulled out from both sides.

Childhood collection
Some important news also in the collection dedicated to early childhood, that has been one of the main focuses of the company since its origins, always keeping in mind the principles of high quality, safety and functionality. Here we have three new products that join the refined Mammamia Collection. Mignon bouncer, which allows to use Tiramisù evolutive chair (already winner of the prestigious international Good Design Award) from birth, and other two products designed according to Montessori method: the learning tower Sua Altezza and the convertible cot Fuoriclasse. Sua Altezza is a learning tower inspired by Montessori method, that can convert into a convenient step stool, with support adjustable to three positions to follow the child’s growth safely.

Fuoriclasse is an innovative bedroom system inspired by Montessori method, that follows the child’s growth and can be converted according to the needs: it is in fact modular and allows different configurations according to the taste and the child’s growth phase. It features a soft, neat and essential design, and can be arranged according to the needs: Fuoriclasse can be a king size baby cot with chest of drawers and bench or with two chests of drawers, both solutions granting extra comfort and more space for the baby, or it can be a single bed, to which a trundle bed can be added, following the child’s growth up to adulthood, and lastly it can also be a chest of drawers, easily converting into desk, bookshelf or drawers furniture.

Environmental commitment
Foppapedretti has a deep respect for wood: the company only uses wood from certified areas and from forests with reforestation projects governed by local laws and verified by rangers. This is how wood is constantly renewed. Foppapedretti supports the projects of the non-profit Bioforest organization (www.bioforest.it) for reforestation and recovery of areas to promote a more environmentally aware industrial culture and contribute to the safeguarding of natural resources in a real and tangible way.
Foppapedretti environmental commitment is not limited to wood. In fact, in its factories, Foppapedretti uses non-toxic water-based paints. A rather costly choice which, however, drastically reduces hazardous emissions, provides a safe working environment for the employees, non-toxic products for the customers and the recovery and reintegration of paint residue.
Moreover, the air inside the plants is constantly being filtered to remove dust particles and then put back in circulation again. Lastly, all the wood waste, chips, shavings and sawdust are recovered, crushed and, after a very elaborate process, reused as fuel to heat the factories and offices and run some of the production facilities.
More and more often, wood is combined with innovative materials and the company is proud of its collaboration with renowned Italian and foreign designers.
